Festive Holiday Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is...making peanut butter cookies for literally everyone you know.


  • 48 chocolate kisses
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup Traditional peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup additional granulated sugar for rolling (optional)
  • Festive icing and sprinkles

Heat oven to 375°F.

Beat the shortening and peanut butter together in large bowl until mixed well. Add the sugars (both white and brown) and beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla and beat well (again).

In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually mix them into peanut butter mixture.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar (if ya want) then line them up like little toy soldiers on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. When you pull them out of the oven, Immediately press an unwrapped chocolate kiss into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Decorate with icing and sprinkles and joy.
